Art Impressions Duck Pond

 Today I followed a tutorial by Bonnie to create this cute little duck pond scene.

I didn't have all the stamps Bonnie used so I substituted with what I had.

This is my first attempt at water and reflections. I will need a lot more practice but it is a start.

Art Impressions - Design Challenge - "Don't Fence Me In" Submission 2

 I absolutely love the little fence in the "He Leads Me" stamp set so I decided to incorporate it with a few other stamps sets to make this sweet little page for my art journal.

I don't have any small background tree stamps yet so it just looks like a rolling hill.

I used an ink blending brush to softly blend the ink around the lamp to imitate light.

Art Impressions - Design Challenge: "Don't Fence Me In"

 Since this Design Challenge revolved around fences, I wanted to play around with some wooden texture. 

I wanted my project to look like it was painted on fence palings.

I wanted the texture of the fence to show through the painting without losing detail.

I used an old Stampin'Up embossing folder called Pinewood Plank. It is retired now.

I have mounted the painting onto cardstock using foam tape to add some dimension. I was also lucky enough to have some nail head brads in my stash for the wooden sentiment sign.

Art Impressions - Bible Art Journal Page Two

 I am really loving working in this little Art Journal. It gives me the space to learn and try new things without the stress of trying to get it perfect for a gift. 

With my second page I wanted to incorporate two image stamps and use masking.

Love this verse from Matthew 18:3.

I have only recently discovered the beautiful Art Impressions line of stamps and dies. They are so cool because they enable you to create little watercolour artworks without having to be an artist. All you need are just a few stamps and some Tombows. 

Bonnie has a tonne of inspiration and instruction on the AI YouTube Channel, she makes it look so easy but I really didn't think I was going to be able to do a good job for my first attempt so I just used some scrap watercolour paper to start out with.

I have created a short video with some photos to follow.

Much to my surprise my first attempt didn't turn out too bad! Far from perfect of course but I was surprised how easy it really was to colour.

I did stamp the barn crooked and was a little heavy handed with the water. So I decided to have another go using a stamp positioner this time.

This is my second attempt. Same stamp but it looks so different. 

My plan is to make a mini Bible Art Journal that contains some of my favourite verses. I will paint the pages first and bind them later.

There is a challenge over on the Art Impressions Blog that fits the theme of my little painting so I thought I would join in just for fun and to be part of the AI community.

I still have a lot of practice to complete but it's a start and sometimes that is the hardest part.
